The following illustration shows the wiring and component configuration used to power low voltage LED strip lights with a total length longer than 16.4 ft (5 meters) with the ability to dim the LED strips using a traditional wall-dimmer. This is a great setup for residential and commercial installations where a clean, elegant and user- friendly LED strip light installation is desired.

LED strip lights operate on low voltage DC (e.g. 12V/24V), but wall-dimmers are installed in standard line voltage circuits which operate at AC 120 volts (North America) or 220-240 volts.

This is a similar setup as shown in Configuration 1A, but this demonstration shows how multiple power supplies can be connected to the same dimmer switch. This is a common configuration for larger installations where the power capacity (as well as Class 2) limitations would otherwise limit the total length of LED strip lights that can be used.

The unit automatically converts the dimming signal on the AC line voltage side to the appropriate DC dimming signal (PWM) for the LED strip lights.This product is designed to be hard-wired to line voltage wires and should not be used with a standard wall-plug receptacle. INPUT: AC 100-277 V + DIMMING Most wall-dimmers are designed to be mounted directly into the wall, connecting directly to the lighting circuit wiring inside the wall. Please reference the instructions provided by the wall-dimmer unit for further specific installation instructions.Wall-dimmers typically have a maximum wattage rating. Ensure that you do not exceed this rating by connecting too many power supplies on a single dimmer circuit. The wire length is 13.8 inches (35 cm) and has tips stripped and tinned for quick and easy connection to power supply leads. This LED strip is configured as a 16.4 ft (5 meter) reel. It can be cut to shorter lengths as needed, in 2 inch (50 mm) increments using a pair of scissors.This configuration shows the entire reel used in a single continuous run without any turns or interruptions.
